Very dominating at the moment: my L. regale (hybrids) group - the highest plant being more than 190 cm tall! In between ´Golden Splendour´ emerges with one plant already 200 cm tall.
On the left front side my L. candidum group, on the left front already ~170 high ´Pink Perfection´.
Tangos and other Asiatics.

´Feuerzauber´, already in its final flowering phase, together with the beautyful ´Royal Sunset´, some of them with 20 and more buds!

TANGOS:
´Orange Art´ & ´Tiger Play´

Closeups

´Music Art´ & ´Strawberries and Cream´

´Tiny Sensation´ - nice flowers, but as a "miniature" Asiatic, it is so compact the flowers don´t have a possibility to open well. Not the best cultivar compared with, for instance, ´Tiger Play´ or ´Music Art´.
A rather pretty and large flowered "no name" Asiatic.

´Royal Sunset´ - even more beautiful than last year with up to 20 and more buds per plant.

And these are my ~50 ´Royal Sunset´ babies from my 5 main plants from 2009 - nearly all of them with their first flower already!

My Lilium regale (hybrids) group more closely. The scent when standing in front of them is stunning! L. regale, at current, is an important plant for my breeding program.

Pretty, but not really thrilling: Chris North´s ´Ariadne´ (L. davidii X L. lankongense). Maybe, in its second year on my field it will be more convincing...............
I am a little anxious about the LA ´Eye Liner´ which had developed enourmously during spring (5 times higher than in its first year!), however, one plant really shows severe virus symptoms! This is a flower of the good plant...........

As beautiful as last year : LA ´Rousseau´
Asiatic ´Landini´ now in full bloom - strange colour, but beautiful. The flower popped up like pop corn because of the heat and burn immediately! Guess, they would do better in a more sun protected site.
´Rosella´s Dream´ - not very exciting pink - it should show a yellowish flush, but i think because of the heat this flush has just "burnt away" and is now light pink/whitish.
This is how it "should" look:

Glad you mentioned about your Regales being hybrids. I purchased 25 of them last year and their leaves and flowers have variations. Also I purchased a 26 cm Regale from a different source and it has narrower petals/tepals. Dr. H, what characteristics are to look for from the real specie Regale?
AntwortenLöschenI also have Rosella's Dream. The color is the same as yours or maybe the pink tip is a little bit darker. The pic you attached is from a company which is known to photoshop (I hope I used the right word.)their photos. If you notice the pic in the link you attached, the petals on the lower left and right part of the pic has whitish center, only the flower in the middle of the pic has yellow flush. I searched for pics of RD on the web, and the photos at the Lily Nook and Van Engelen are similar to my RD.
I very much enjoyed looking at the photos here in your blog. I will be looking forward to your next post. Thank you so much.
hi lily,
AntwortenLöschenthe main characteristic of REGALE is that the flowers are arranged in an UMBEL - see the plant right front! so, the flower stalks grow from ONE point, look like a "wheel" when looked at from bird´s view.
hybrids, originating mostly from crossing regale with f. i. l. SARGENTIAE and/or l. leucanthum have flowers arranged in a RACEME = "different floors" (like inflorescence of a buckeye)
a good explanation with different inflorescence types can be seen here:

Thank you so much.
